MADE Nepal, in partnership with the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), is implementing the Local Initiative for Community Empowerment and Development (LICED) project in Kapilvastu district. The project primarily focuses on Mushar, Dalit, and other marginalized communities who continue to face deep-rooted social, economic, and institutional exclusion. These groups are far behind in accessing government services, suffer from low literacy rates, and have very limited participation in governance and development processes. The LICED project is designed to strengthen their resilience, improve livelihoods, and promote social inclusion so that these communities can secure a dignified life.
In total, the LICED project will reach out to 1,500 vulnerable individuals, including 500 men and 1,000 women. Beneficiaries have been identified through consultation with local governments, Community Disaster Management Committees (CDMCs), Vulnerability and Capacity Assessments (VCA), and baseline reports. By the end of the project, it is expected that targeted households will have improved livelihoods and food security, better access to government services, reduced health risks through improved hygiene and sanitation, enhanced resilience to disasters, and stronger participation in local decision-making processes.
